Canucks host Blues with shot at 11th straight home win

03/19/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Vancouver Canucks will be trying to maintain their recent dominance on home ice when the St. Louis Blues enter GM Place for tonight's battle with the Western Conference's hottest team.

Vancouver established a new franchise record with its 10th consecutive home victory on Tuesday, when Mats Sundin and Ryan Kesler each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Canucks to a 4-2 triumph over Dallas.

Roberto Luongo continued his strong play in goal by making 24 saves in the win. The All-Star netminder is 11-2-1 with a 2.04 goals against average over his last 14 starts and yielded two or less goals in 12 of those games.

Kesler has been on a tear as well, as the young center has compiled three goals and nine assists over his last nine outings.

The Canucks have not lost in Vancouver since an overtime defeat to Minnesota on January 31. That setback, ironically, was the team's ninth in a row at home prior to this current hot streak.

Vancouver has amassed a stellar 14-3-1 overall record since that loss to the Wild and has closed within one point of Chicago for the Western Conference's fourth playoff seed. The Canucks are now just five points back of first-place Calgary in the Northwest Division standings as well.

The Blues began a key three-game road trip with Tuesday's shootout loss to Edmonton, which pushed St. Louis two points back of the Oilers for eighth place in the West.

Chris Mason performed well between the pipes for the Blues, stopping 33-of-34 chances prior to the shootout, but St. Louis mustered just David Backes' power-play tally in 32 shots on the Oilers' Dwayne Roloson.

The Blues did register a win in Vancouver earlier this season, a 6-4 decision on January 9 in which the team scored three times in the final six minutes. Luongo did not play in that game due to a groin injury.

The Canucks returned the favor with a 6-4 victory in St. Louis last month, with Sundin notching a pair of goals in that one, and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 matchups with the Blues. St. Louis has lost four of the five games played in Vancouver during that stretch.

St. Louis, which is 13-16-4 as the guest this season, will conclude its present trek Friday in Calgary.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977.  Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.

Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer.  In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.

MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season.  Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.  After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.

Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions.  They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals.  The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.

"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."

Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com
